Another reason your shingles may be missing is that they were “high nailed”.  This means that the installer did not nail them in the strike zone that is provided on the back of each shingle.  When a shingle is high nailed, the shingle below it may not have enough nails in it or in some cases any at all.  Unfortunately, this is a common situation and poor workmanship is the reason.

No matter what the reason your shingles are missing, Castle can help.  Give us a call and we’ll get you back on track with a proper roof installation.

This makes me wonder if my friend was aware of the strike zone provided on the back of every shingle. She found a DIY for her roof and tried it out. However, many shingles have started falling off. In my opinion, this seems like a reason why it might be better to leave these types of things to a roofing contractor.

If you inspect your roof on a regular basis and quickly spot damaged or missing shingles then chances are that you may be able to repair or replace them when the problem is small and the problem will be solved by spending later.

I can totally believe that it’s common for people not to notice missing shingles on their roof. It’s not something I would have noticed if my nephew hadn’t pointed it out. I’ll have to get that taken care of before a leak can occur.
